CPI Edges Up 0.1 Percent In May; Trump Rants Against Fake News Media On Twitter, Claims He Had 74,000 Ticket Requests For His 2020 Presidential Announcement In Florida

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 0.1 percent in May after rising 0.3 percent in April, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

The all items index increased 1.8 percent during the past 12 months.

The index for all items, minus food and energy, rose 0.1 percent for the fourth consecutive month.

The index for all items, minus food and energy, increased 2.0 percent over the last 12 months, and the food index also rose 2.0 percent during the same period.

The food index gained 0.3 percent in May after declining in April, while the energy index fell 0.6 percent in May, led by the gasoline index which fell 0.5 percent.

The indexes for electricity and natural gas also declined in May.

In another tweet, President Trump tweeted that the Fake News has never been more dishonest than it is today and claimed their weapon of choice is Fake Polling, sometimes referred to as Suppression Polls.

According to a recent Quinnipiac poll released on Tuesday June 11th, President Trump has a 42 percent job approval level, the same level polled by another poll, IBD/TIPP.

A Rasmussen Reports poll, also released on Tuesday, shows President Trump with a 49 percent job approval level.

Latest Democratic presidential nomination polls has Biden leading over the other candidates.

Based on a Quinnipiac poll released on Tuesday, Biden has a + 11 point advantage with a 30 percent level compared to Sanders at 19 percent, Warren at 15 percent, Buttigieg at 8 percent, and Harris at 7 percent.

A Politico/Morning Consult poll released on Tuesday shows Biden with a + 18 point lead.

Biden received 37 percent compared to Sanders at 19 percent, Warren at 11 percent, Buttigieg at 7 percent, and Harris at 7 percent.
