The Week Ahead

Earnings season continues this week and investors will be paying attention to earnings results from Netflix later today and financial institutions during the middle of the week from Goldman Sachs and Bank of America on Tuesday, and American Express on Wednesday.

Earlier this morning, Blackrock posted 2nd quarter 2017 earnings that was slightly below consensus estimates although the company still showed a 10 percent increase in diluted EPS year-over-year.

Microsoft and Capital One will report their corporate earnings on Thursday and General Electric announces on Friday before the market open.

Today, China posted 2nd quarter 2017 GDP results that showed 6.9 percent growth, matching the same level as the first quarter.

The U.S. Congressional Budget Office will delay their new score of the revised Republican healthcare plan that was set to be announced as early as today, according to Bloomberg and CNN.

U.S. economic data is lighter this week.

Empire Manufacturing is due today for July.

Tuesday will see Import/Export prices on Tuesday for June, and the NAHB Housing Market Index for July.

On Wednesday Building Permit and Housing Starts are reported for June along with crude inventories, and the MBA Mortgage Index.

On Thursday Leading Indicators for June and the Philadelphia Fed are due for July alongside initial and continuing job claims and natural gas inventories.
