New Donald Trump Jr. E-mail Discovery Raises Questions About Trump Campaign Ties With Russia

A secret meeting held last year on June 9th at Trump Tower between Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, and a Russian lawyer named Natalia Veselnitskaya, who campaigned against Russian sanctions in 2012, have renewed concerns that Trump’s campaign had outside involvement from Russians to help boost his election chances.

Yesterday, Donald Trump Jr. released an e-mail chain from 2016 that he had with Rob Goldstone, a British music publicist who works for Emin Agalarov, a pop singer from Azerbaijan, whose father Aras Agalarov, a billionaire has close ties to Russian President Putin and associated with President Trump in 2013 during a Miss Universe pagent in Moscow.

On June 3rd Rob Goldstone wrote in his e-mail,

“The crown prosecutor of Russia met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.”

“This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump-helped along by Aras and Emin. What do you think is the best way to handle this information and would you be able to speak to Emin about it directly? I can also sent this info to your father via Rhona, but it is ultra sensitive so wanted to send to you first.”

Speaking to NBC news on Tuesday, Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya denied that she had any damaging or sensitive information about Hilary Clinton.

When Veselnitskaya was questioned by NBC about her past meeting on June 9th between Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort and told that these 3 Trump campaign officials who met with her had the impression that she was going to give them some damaging information about Hillary Clinton, she replied, “It is quite possible that maybe they were looking for such information, they wanted it so badly.”

Veselnitskaya later denied claims that she was connected to a Kremlin effort to help Donald Trump become elected to the White House.

President Trump claimed in a new tweet today that his son Donald Trump Jr. was open, transparent, and innocent before calling this the “greatest witch hunt in history.”

Donald Trump Jr. released his e-mail chain yesterday after the N.Y. Times had contacted him and informed him that they were going to publish the contents of his e-mail exchange connected to his June 9th meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya.
