Trump Surprises And Wins Election: Updated Election Results

Here are the latest election results from the Associated Press. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has just won in the U.S. presidential election.

Trump picked up 276 electoral votes thus far from projected wins in Alabama (9), Arkansas (6), Florida (29), Georgia (16), Idaho (4), Iowa (6), Indiana (11), Kentucky (8), Kansas (6), Louisiana (8), Mississippi (6), Missouri (10), Montana (3), North Dakota (3), North Carolina (15), Nebraska (5), Oklahoma (7), Ohio (18), Pennsylvania (20), South Carolina (9), South Dakota (3), Tennessee (11), Texas (38), West Virginia (5), Utah (6), Wisconsin (10), and Wyoming (3).

Clinton has 218 electoral votes and is the projected winner in New York where she gained 29 electoral college votes in addition to California (55), Connecticut (7), Colorado (9), Delaware (3), District of Columbia (3), Hawaii (4), Illinois (20) Maryland (10), Maine (3), Massachusetts (11), New Jersey (14), New Mexico (5), Nevada (6), Oregon (7), Rhode Island (4), Vermont (3), Virginia (13), and Washington (12).

There are 270 electoral votes needed to win.

Republicans have retained control of the House of Representatives, passing the 218 threshold and currently lead 234 to 179.

The U.S. Senate race is currently favoring Republicans 51 to 47. There are 51 needed for a majority.

In 2012 Barack Obama defeated Mitt Romney by winning the popular vote and also in the electoral college with 332 electoral votes to Romney’s 206.
