Trump Gives Dark Speech At Republican Convention, Claims To Be “Law And Order Candidate”

Donald Trump gave the biggest speech of his lifetime on Thursday night at the Republican Convention in Cleveland, Ohio where he gave a dark prognosis of America using politicized rehetoric and fear mongering while assuring the crowd that he would be America’s voice.

Speaking in loud, sharp tones with hammer like hand motions, Trump spoke at length about topics ranging from national security, immigration, the economy, and terrorism.

“I am the law and order candidate”

Trump said that when he takes the oath of office next year, he will “restore law and order” to America, and even referred to himself as the “law and order candidate.”

Trump explained that we must immediately suspend immigration from any nation that has been “compromised by terrorism” until such time as “proven vetting mechanisms” have been put in place.

Few details were actually provided about who would be left in charge to handle the arbitrary process for determining whether the vetting mechanisms are “proven” to actually work.

If implemented, terrorists could easily lie when questioned and fall through the cracks of any vetting mechanism that Trump would like to introduce if elected president.

During the primary election season, Trump has called for a total ban on Muslims entering the U.S.

His latest proprosal to suspend immigration to any nation “compromised by terrorism” leaves unanswered questions about the parameteres for judging when a country is officially labeled as “compromised.”

Border Wall Is Back In Speech Along With Negative Stereotype Of Illegal Immigrants

Trump has claimed in the past that he will build a border wall funded by Mexico.

On Thursday night at the Republican Convention, Trump doubled down on his proposal and did some fear mongering when he suggested yet again that illegal immigrants entering the U.S. are mostly drug dealers and rapists even though the evidence shows the vast majority of illegal immigrants are searching for honest work.

“We are going to build a great border wall to stop illegal immigration, to stop the gangs and the violence, and to stop the drugs from pouring into our communities” Trump said.

Trump claimed  in this speech that  Hillary Clinton is proposing “mass amnesty, mass immigration, and mass lawlessness.”

Trump Clothing, Outsourcing, and Taxes

Trump’s clothing companies have taken advantage of outsourcing over the years and benefitted financially from cheaper labor costs outside of U.S. borders

But Donald Trump sounded hypocritical when he claimed on Thursday night at the Republican Convention that he will bring our jobs back American  jobs and not let companies move to other countries, firing their employees along the way, without consequences.

Trump also said that he wants to renegotiate trade agreements with China and NAFTA.

Claiming that Hillary Clinton plans a “massive tax increase”, Trump said he proposed the largest tax reduction of any candidate who has run for president this year.

“Middle-income Americans will experience profound relief, and taxes will be greatly simplified for everyone. I mean everyone” Trump exclaimed.

Trump’s Tax Plan Viewed As Adding To National Debt By Non-Partisan Tax Policy Center

According to research from the non-partisan Tax Policy Center, Trump’s plan would “significantly lower marginal tax rates on individual and businesses, increase standard deduction amounts to nearly four times current levels, and curtail many tax expenditures.”

Although Trump’s tax proposal would cut taxes at all income levels, the largest benefits would go to the highest income households and it would also reduce federal revenues by $9.5 trillion over its first decade before including interest costs or considering the macroeconomic feedback effects.

The Tax Policy Center concluded, “unless it is accompanied by very large spending cuts, it could increase the national debt by nearly 80 percent of gross domestic product by 2036 and “offsetting some or all of the incentive effects of the tax cuts.”
