alyioCanada’s Liberal Party was victorious in yesterday’s general election after Canadians voted overwhelmingly for change after nearly 10 years of conservative control.

Centrist Liberals, led by Justin Trudeau, 43, now have a majority rule in Canada.

Trudeau is expected to reverse the policies of his predecessor Conservative PM Steven Harper, a fiscal conservative who supported the international coalition air campaign against ISIS in the Middle East, distanced Canada from the U.N., slowed immigration into Canada, and opposed most progressive policies of environmentalists.

Canada’s economy has recently slumped along with the drop in oil prices.

Trudeau, a former school teacher whose father is late PM Pierre Trudeau, supports running deficits to improve Canada’s infrastructure, legalizing marijuana, and raising taxes on Canadians earning above $200,000 a year while lowering taxes for the rest of Canadians.

Trudeau is married to Sophie Gregoire, a radio and T.V. reporter from Quebec.

Gregoire is involved with charity work and public speaking, mainly around women’s issues. They have 3 children.
